We want to help you help grandparents….
Tuesday, 23 Feb 2010
BeGrand.net is a new website that gives grandparents the information and help they need to support families & children.
We launched on Monday 25th January.
What does BeGrand.net do?
We provide:
* Information and support about everything to do with grandparenting.
* Confidential online advisers trained to deal with serious legal and social problems, 1-to-1.
* A place for grandparents to talk to each other about the issues that matter to them.
* A place where grandparents can come together and make their voices heard.
How does this fit with FIS?
We want to work with FIS. We will direct grandparents to the right services available through FIS. In turn, you can get information for grandparents from us or direct them to us for more specialist advice and support.
Why do grandparents need support online?
There's lots of great support & information for parents - but not much tailored specifically to grandparents. Though grandparents can find support in "the real world," there isn't much available for them online. Support online can't replace 'real world' services but it can offer other benefits....
The site is accessible 24 hours a day and grandparents can be as anonymous or vocal as they like! All information is free. They offer information that's specific to them: for example if they're kinship carersand need legal information; or if they just want to talk to other grandparentsand share what they know; if they want to brush up their knowledge about what's changed since they were parents, or even learn new skills, like using new technologyto stay in touch long distance. Or if they just want fun, free ways to entertain their grandchildren, we can help.
Who can come along to our sessions?
Friday, 18 Dec 2009
Windhill has grown in popularity with demand for sessions and activities growing week by week and not just from families in Bishop's Stortford but from as far away as Saffron Walden, Braintree and Puckeridge and while this is a great compliment to us it has presented us with a big problem, especially regarding funding, staffing and resources. As a result we have made the following decision:
All families from both Bishop's Stortford and beyond are very welcome to come along to any of our Stay & Play drop-in sessions, however for bookable sessions priority will be given to families living in Bishop's Stortford, Little Hadham, Albury, Furneux and Stocking Pelham. Most of our sessions tend to be over subscribed, but if places remain unfilled we will give consideration to families living out of the areas stated above.
